About Antigua

Antigua has a land area of 108 sq. miles located at latitude 17° 5' North and longitude 61° 45' West in the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean. Antigua is 13 miles across with a coastline peppered with numerous coves and bays; many with beautiful white, sand beaches. The south-west is hilly, rising to 402 m at Boggy Peak, the island's highest point.

Barbuda, a low-lying coral island is located 32 miles north of Antigua and has a land area of approximately 64 sq. miles. Barbuda encompasses the expansive Codrington lagoon, bound by a long undeveloped beach.

Antigua Sailing Week – one of the top 5 sailing regattas in the world held yearly in late April or early May, more than 200 yachts descend on English Harbour to race and take part in the many parties and events. A great time to visit the area. www.sailingweek.com

Antigua Carnival – every year at the end of July into August the whole country heads for St. John's to celebrate emancipation. A 10-day long party there are events to suit all ages and desires – from Steel pan shows, to Soca ‘Jump Ups' and Last Lap. www.antiguacarnival.com
